Description
R9 290 Graphics Card - 4GB DDR5 VRAM - PCIE 3.0
This card is in decent condition and is fully functional. It has recently been de-dusted and new thermal paste applied. This card is very good at offering amazing value for money when playing more high end games like the modern Tomb Raider series (very demanding) at 1080p on the highest settings and even 2K with a few concessions in visual quality in some games. It defiantly beats the likes of more modern cards like the GTX 1650 and sometimes is neck and neck with the super version in select games. In some scenarios, it even comes out on top. A true value king.
Some rough FPS scores at 1080p:
Witcher 3 Max Settings + Nvidia Hair Works: 46FPS
Rise of the Tomb Raider max settings : 45 FPS
Red Dead Redemption 2 Ultra textures + medium mix settings: 47 FPS
In less demanding titles like Fortnite you will see FPS ranging between 115-130 FPS on max settings and you should have no issue playing on max or high settings in 2K at 60 FPS too. Your FPS may be higher or lower depending on how powerful your cpu is. I use an i7 4770 (also for sale if interested) which works well with this card. You can easily do 60 FPS in all the mentioned games by doing minor settings changes. Very good value for money compared to newer low end graphics cards.
Never overclocked the GPU but I have undervolted (which is good for the graphics card) and this card undervolts well by up to -50mv or more without underclocking. Because of this, I can make the card run at 210W TDP rather than the base 275W without a performance hit. The card peaks at 65 degrees under gaming loads with this undervolt. It could work on a 500W PSU or even lower (heavily dependant on your sys config.)
The card uses 6pin + 8pin atx config
Comes with a dual Molex to 8 pin atx connector if you need it.
Can be seen working
Pickup in Harrow area.
Any questions just ask.
