First Lesson Free! Experienced Mathematics Tutor - All Levels - Glasgow
Description
ACE Math - Maths, made simple.
Hi, and thank you for viewing my advert.
If you, your friend or family member (of any age) struggles with mathematics or simply requires a little assistance in preparation for an upcoming exam, I am here to help!
Maths is a subject plagued by overcomplicating jargon.
The key to success in maths lies in creating simplified, intuitive explanations. Unforgivingly complex explanations offered by most teachers and textbooks do nothing to aid a student's understanding of the subject, which so often leads to them believing that they are "just bad at maths".
In stark contrast, I believe that no one is "just bad a maths". My experiences (please see below) have shown that all any student needs is a teacher who can communicate ideas to them in a way that caters to their unique learning requirements. I pride myself on my ability to take complicated topics and split them in to clear and manageable chunks that students can easily digest at their own pace.
As an experienced tutor I am confident that I will be able to help you/your family member with your/their mathematics issues - so much so that I offer the first lesson for FREE with absolutely no obligation to continue lessons thereafter. (Although I sincerely hope you would wish to continue!)
Please see below for details of my educational background, teaching experience and other important details. Feel free to contact me at your convenience to discuss arrangements for your free consultation session/first lesson.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Best Wishes,
Andrew C. Eadie (ACE)
Background and Credentials
Last summer I graduated from the University of Glasgow with an Honours Degree in Physics. I now work for Morgan Stanley specializing in finance, so maths remains a daily part of life (as it has been for the past 11 years). In school I had a particular flare for mathematics and achieved A band 1's at both Higher and Advanced Higher levels.
Teaching Experience
Throughout my university career and thereafter I have tutored upwards of 40 students falling anywhere in the age range of 10 - 50. Additionally, as part of my final year coursework, I completed a peer learning program which involved tutoring/mentoring first/second year University physics students on a weekly basis. Alongside this we would also research, analyze and write reports on various teaching methodologies and techniques and our observations on the implementation of these in practice.
Tutoring Approach
Understanding is always better than memorisation. True depth in understanding eliminates the need to remember facts/processes/tricks/examples as much, which makes an exam a whole lot less stressful! (I talk from experience!!!) My aim when tutoring is always to foster this depth in understanding and not simply to get a student through an exam on their capacity to retain information temporarily. I achieve this by breaking down topics into manageable chunks and comparing mathematical situations to real life scenarios using analogies that are intuitive and logical, and thus far easier to comprehend.
Area Serviced & Travel
I can cover most locations in the Central Glasgow area. I am both willing to travel to a student's house or to have them receive lessons at my own home (which is in the south side, very near Hampden stadium). Across the school year I typically find myself extremely busy with students and so where possible I do encourage students to come to my home for lessons. I offer a discount to students who can travel to me, and in these instances parents are more than welcome to sit in on lessons, relax in private in the living room or to leave and return at the end of the lesson.
