Description
An exciting new fine art short course taking place on 8th - 12th August 2016 in Cardiff for ages 14-16. Only 15 places available. Email for a booking form.
The aim of this course is to complement the amazing art classes you receive at school in an exciting, fun and challenging environment.
Highlights of the cram-packed week include:
** Intensive drawing and painting exercises;
preparing canvases to work on;
learning about different primers/canvases/paints etc;
** You will build up a body of drawings based around a theme (to be announced before the course) and produce a finished canvas painting which will then be critiqued by the group. (If you wish to produce sculpture or works in other formats, we can aim to accommodate this)
** We will hold an exhibition of drawings and paintings completed during the week. We will assign gallery roles at the beginning of the course: gallery director, curator, logistics, technician, public relations, gallery assistants etc. This is an exciting opportunity!
** Internationally acclaimed, superstar artist Super Future Kid will visit for the day from London to give a presentation on her work, show work in progress and give invaluable tips on creating the perfect painting.
** Esteemed London art critic/curator/writer Sacha Craddock will be providing an insight into her career and the possibilities available to graduates of fine art via a series of exclusively recorded ‘A Day in the Life Of’ films. Other artists and art professionals will also be talking about their typical working days, including prolific Spanish artist Gala Knorr.
** A visit to a gallery to hear from the director about how artists are selected for shows and how the gallery operates.
** Realistic and practical advice on life at art college and then life after. How to promote yourself as an artist. Building online portfolios and profiles and selling your work online. etc etc
** Syllabus is subject to change
