Vocalist Wanted / Progressive/postrock/prog band
Description
We're a band based in the Birmingham area looking for a vocalist. Current line up is Bass (Matt Trodden), and Drums (Josh Ainsworth) Guitar (Zaid Crowe).
This band is a passion for all of us, and although we haven't been going for very long, we bring over 30 years of combined experience writing, touring and recording in other projects. We’ve all played many different genres of music across this time including metal, funk, post-hardcore, acoustic and math but have never found these styles as fulfilling as we would have liked. When we got together, we decided to write music that we wanted to play regardless of genre. What’s come out is progressive music that is both heavy, melodic and dynamically interesting.
Our influences include:
Tool,
Karnivool,
Dead letter circus,
Animals as leaders,
Periphery,
(Early) Incubus,
The Chronicles of Israphael,
Nuno Bettencourt,
Cups of tea and biscuits (Bourbons).
Our ideal vocalist would:
- Be comfortable with writing vocal parts over compound time signatures
- Be comfortable in a studio environment, this means you need great pitch, and can comfortably work with a click track
- Have had some live experience (this isn’t a deal breaker, as long as you aren't terrified of performing!)
- Have a predominantly clean vocal, screaming/growing is something we are open to, but in moderation
- Have strong song arrangement skills.
- Be available at least one evening per week, preferably two for rehearsing and writing sessions in central Birmingham
We have some (very) rough recordings of us. There’s a mix of live completely spontaneous jams recorded on an iPhone, and some home recorded ‘ideas’. Nothing is final. We’re a highly collaborative unit and actively seeking constructive input where we can get it. Please contact me for these as Gum Tree will not allow me to include them here.
If you're interested, pick one of these recordings as a backing track, and either record yourself over it or simply use your mobile to record a video of you singing and send a link to it to me via this ad.
