After school childcare (manny or nanny) required in South London / homework help & housekeeping
Description
Role: After school childcare, homework help, house keeping, great role model
Start date: Late August
Hours: 16 hours per week - part time (NB we require someone who will be FT in school holidays)
4pm-8pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. Potential for 25 hours with housekeeping.
Location: South London/Croydon area
We are looking for after school (and FT in school holidays) live-out childcare for our 11 year old boy. 4 days a week (generally not Tuesdays although day off occasionally flexible). The hours are between 16 – 25 hours per week term time, and 44 hours per week during school holidays. We often work unsociable hours, so need someone who can be flexible with start/leave times (usually with notice).
We welcome applicants without formal childcare qualifications (this isn't your typical nanny role) more important is that you closely match our requirements outlined in this advert, please only apply if you do. We will wait for the right candidate.
* Male child care is preferred choice for our son as he is used to having male nannies. Of course, if you are a female child carer with an interest in football, computer games and other things 11 year old boys are, we would love to hear from you too as we will choose the best candidate regardless of gender.
* You will be easy going, warm, friendly, fun and caring. A self-starter always looking for ways to keep busy, improve life for everyone in the household and educate and stimulate our lovely, bright, funny 11 year old (no, no, really, he is!)
* You will speak, read and write English to a VERY high standard as homework help / tutoring (if that is your skill) will be required. Preferably GCSE A-C equivalents. Unfortunately this position would not suit someone living in the UK in order to learn or improve their own English.
* Our boy is moving from primary to grammar school in September, so homework support is going to be important at this challenging and exciting time. It is vital that you have a good educational background, a past career in education, or experience of motivating children of this age.
* Housekeeping. As our son won’t need constant supervision, we would prefer someone willing to muck in with keeping the household running smoothly and who enjoys cooking good home made food (for our child). The position would definitely suit someone who likes to keep busy and doesn’t need to be asked to find little jobs that need doing. We are aware that the lower part-time hours won’t necessarily suit the best candidates, so in addition to the childcare hours we can increase hours with more housekeeping (up to an extra 9 hours a week during term time).
* Interests: You will need to be able to connect with our boy. He loves football, cars, all sports, photography, computer games, animals (he has 2 cats), cartoons, the natural world, adventuring, and generally responds to people who are lively, fun and enthusiastic about life.
* Honesty, punctuality and brilliant communication skills are greatly valued. We ideally want someone who will stick with us for a while and offer stability, so would rather this wasn’t just a stop gap for you. We’ve employed a few nannies since he was a baby and each has enjoyed working in our home and especially hanging out with our boy.
* Please do not apply: If you are not already settled in the UK. If you have a 45+ min commute to our house (consider we may move to Croydon). Or you have too many other commitments that mean you aren’t able to be flexible with hours.
The days we need to cover are:
Term time (38 weeks per year)
Monday 1600–2000
Tuesday DAY OFF
Wednesday 1600–2000
Thursday 1600–2000
Friday 1600–2000
