Volunteering Programs in Latin America and the Caribbean
Description
More than 1.3 billion people live in extreme poverty. Over 800 million people don’t have enough food to eat and more than 750 million don’t have adequate access to clean drinking water. Global Warming and Climate Change will put millions more at risk.
We can no longer count on politicians and corporations to make the difference or to change the status quo. It’s the actions of people at the grassroots that will make the difference. There’s no time to waste, it’s time now to join hands and fight shoulder to shoulder with the most vulnerable.
Join a a study and action program at Richmond Vale Academy, where participants from all over the world get together and fight for ways to create sustainable development, together with the Poor. Learn about the global situation and take action on a local level in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and in Latin America.
The Climate Change Activist Program focuses on creating the first nation in the world that is ready for climate change. 3 times a year environmentalists from all over the world join the project for a period of 6 months to teach, spread awareness, learn and teach sustainable agriculture, reduce pollution and protect the rich biodiversity of St. Vincent.
The Fighting with the Poor program aims at developing poor rural communities in Latin America and the Caribbean through sustainable development actions. Participants join for 18 months with 3 periods: 6 months of training based in St. Vincent, 6 months of action shoulder to shoulder with the Poor in Latin America, 6 months back in St. Vincent, sharing experiences and continuing the work with the Poor. Earn a University Certificate in Fighting with the Poor.
You will live in an environment based on community. We grow our food, cook, clean and run the school as a collective. You will be engaged in learning sessions, study tasks, presentations, volunteer work, fundraising and more.
As you train to become a climate activist or a development instructor you will be challenged to stretch your mind and understanding of the world.
As you train to become a development instructor you will learn about empowering the poor to create a sustainable future.
